Ligature Journal Issue 9

In collaboration with graduates from varying design institutions– including UTS, UNSWAD and Torrens University (Billy Blue College), we worked under the guidance of Tiliqua Press to create a magazine amidst what was unmistakably a very unexpected and trying year.

Ligature Journal celebrates exciting and experimental design through the exploration of the thoughtful ideas that inform and connect design across a multitude of disciplines. Issue Nine further delves into the concepts behind Design and place, with a focus on the body of the magazine and the page itself.

Issue Nine and Ligature Journal’s previous two issues received a merit in the 2020 Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) Awards.

All visual content was designed, laid out and created by our team. For this issue I contributed digital illustrations, worked with experimental typography and contributed some written material. In the unprecedented times of COVID-19 we worked closely together and communicated through various mediums– weekly team video calls, iterating designs back and forth online, and meeting up in studio.

The final product is a beautifully unique magazine that is a testament to our hard work and love for design.
